Gotta Push Through

After going to bed at around 3am SG time, or as Kim Dibona might say, "Sing Sing Time," we ended up only being able to sleep till around 7am. Being the athletes that we are, we sugged it up and went on morning run and it was sooo humid wowee.

*today's goal was to push through the day and not fall asleep, then go home and pass out like mofos.

It was cloudy but our mom said it wasn't going rain.  About 15 minutes into our sweet jungle run, it started to POUR.  We made it to shelter after getting soaked, but overall a good first running experience.

"infant maze" in the rain

Asians know how to prevent splashing!

We stopped some white people stuck in the rain, but then realized that there are actually a ton of white people in Singapore.

We were planning on going to the hawker center for breakfast after our run, but then for some reason all the stalls were closed, so we ran back to the house, cleaned up and then took the bus (yes, like the common people) into town.  The weather cleared up and it was sunny once we got in.
The first place we went to was Takashimaya to walk around our favorite shopping center/food court:
Takashimaya

Jason: "How about we, instead of going to the food court, go and get hot and sour la mian from Crystal Jade?"
Wesley: "Oh!"
Jason: "Are we allowed to do that for our first meal?"
Wesley: "Let's do it!"
Jason: "I can't wait, we gotta go find it."
Welsey: "That is a clutch snipe of a first meal!"

After walking around for a while, passing other Crystal Jade branches, we find it and our waitress was awesome!
hot and sour la mian...basically the best: really good (and spicy) hot and sour soup with hand pulled noodles

soupy pork xiao long bao: awesome dumplings that had soup inside them and you eat them with black vinegar and ginger.

happy wez

The soup was so good but we were both sweating afterward.  Jason got a fresh chili flake up his nose...that was fun.  They also charged us $.30 for water.  As we found out, this is the thing to do now in Singapore.

After about an hour of walking around, it was time for coffee and dessert.  Jason got some coffee from Ya Kun and Wes got watermelon juice.  Then it was green tea icecream and frozen yogurt time.

japanese green tea icecream for wez, as usual

frozen yogurt

We did a lot of walking, not really either of our favorite thing to do.  All day long we also were looking for wireless so that Jason could get in touch with Jackie Booth, who is here on vacation with a friend.  We went to all the hotels and all the coffee shops and book stores and couldn't get in touch...hopefully tomorrow!

We got to the OG after wes asked the Hilton concierge for a map--then went to a crazy spanish (i think) designer store called disigual with a backwards "s."

After walking around aimlessly for a little while longer, we decided on Prima Taste for dinner in Centerpoint.  We usually go to this place with Lao Yi, but Wes really wanted Laksa.

wesley's laksa, note his bravery in trying cockles.

happy wez

After dinner we went back to Takashimaya to get caroline a curry puff for when she arrived.  Then we got on the bus and took it back to the house.  After some snacks and a shower, bedtime!! In the morning, the fat one (caroline/our sister) will be here!

  1. Glad to hear you are running and hope you find Cousin Jackie soon! Dark or Light had a good/great premiere at the BI. I'll send you an email soon with more details. 46 kids at day camp this a.m.! Numbers are up for NUTC too again. Really love the pictures of the food.
